Reading Time: 2 minutes

One can remain alive long past the usual date of disintegration if one is unafraid of change, insatiable in intellectual curiosity, interested in big things, and happy in small ways. — Edith Wharton

What’s your idea of becoming a Silver Girl? Is it going gracefully “into that good night.” Or is it to go kicking and screaming. That’s not a pretty sight (making a fool of oneself just because you can). What good does it do to “rage against the dying of the light” (as Dylan Thomas wrote)? How about being a kick-ass instead?

Not an Easy Task

Becoming a Silver Girl isn’t easy, but some of us get to do it. Trying to be more accepting of the process is challenging for many of us. Some would like to age gracefully as an example for the next generations. Others would like to call on their alter egos and become a kick-ass older woman. Not that we can claim “here’s how to do it.”

Also, remember to be kind to those who are likely to be picking your old-folks home. Your children or your grandchildren?

Since people are living longer than previous generations, Silver Girls have the chance to show the youngsters how it’s done. We first have to figure it out. And like the rest of life, we only have one opportunity to get it right. No pressure there, right? Tick tock. Tick tock.

What Do You Think?

How do you plan on showing your kids, grandkids, nieces, nephews, neighbors, and co-workers what it means to be a Silver Girl?
